Is it poppy, jazzy or funky? It’s a melting pot, everything mixed together. Vloeimans’ Horn Of Plenty, in which everything is possible. HOTSPOT plays music from the heart that makes everyone happy.
Danceable, funky grooves, inspired by James Brown’s Jungle Groove, hypnotic mysticism with beautiful melodies, a touch of dance (partly thanks to his combination with DJ Armin van Buuren), an ode to the Caribbean groups in which Vloeimans has played, irresistibly swinging African rhythms ánd Vloeimans’ love of energetic Balkan grooves. And last but not least: Phaedra Kwant sings beautiful songs of her own.
The musicians belong to the crème de la crème of Dutch music and it is almost impossible that you have not come across them before: A steaming rhythm section with Phaedra Kwant on bass guitar and vocals (known from Candy Dulfer, Loïs Lane, Claudia de Breij) and Pascal Vermeer on drums (Flaco Jiménez, Theo Loevendie, David Murray), combined with the peerless soloists Sjoerd van Eijck (Dennis van Aarssen, Marilyn Mazur, Eric van der Westen) and Jerôme Hol (Hans Dulfer, Billy Cobham, Dr. Lonnie Smith) on keyboards and guitar.
