STEVE HARLEY ACOUSTIC TRIO – cancelled

Friday 31 October 2014 2014

Due to cancelation of the whole tour, the show in Paard van Troje is also cancelled. The management of Steve Harley declared that there will not be a new tour. Purchased tickets can be returned to the point of purchase. Those who bought E-tickets will be informed via e-mail.Steve began his singing career "floor-spotting" (singing for free as a member of the audience) in London folk clubs in 1971/72. He later joined folk band Odin as rhythm guitarist and co-singer, which was where he met the first Cockney Rebel violinist, John Crocker. However, the folk scene proved a little tame for Mr Harley and, as he was constantly writing songs, formed Cockney Rebel as a vehicle for his own work.

The band signed to EMI for a guaranteed three album deal in 1972 and released ‘The Human Menagerie’ early in ’73. One Steve Harley and Cockney Rebel single, ‘Make Me Smile (Come Up and See Me)’ reached number one in 1975 in the UK and many European countries and is regularly voted among the top singles in the history of the charts, which covers six decades of releases. The Performing Rights Society has confirmed ‘Make Me Smile’ one of the most played records in British broadcasting.

Steve will be accompanied by his Cockney Rebel band-mate of long-standing, Barry Wickens (violin and guitar) and by James Lascelles (piano and percussion). The set will be built around tracks from all 13 of Steve’s albums and will include all-time favourites like Mr Soft, Judy Teen, Mr Raffles, Sebastian, and of course the ever-popular Make Me Smile (Come Up And See Me), all blended in with more recent tracks from critically acclaimed albums The Quality Of Mercy and Stranger Comes To Town.

“A Closer Look – An Acoustic Set” is an unmissable chance for fans to connect with Steve Harley in a special setting. MOJO said simply, “Harley creates rock songs that are proud, lyrical and full of yearning.” Steve has also been described as “A consummate performer at the top of his game,” and this show will bear that out.
