According to the legend somewhere in North Carolina in a small town called Whiskeytown Douglas Firs was born.  In his early days Douglas Firs performed as Gertjan Van Hellemont (his birth name) as guitarist with The Bony King of Nowhere and coproduced the tender and delicate Love Like Birds.

Although his roots are in the American South-West he also got inspiration out of Gent, a city that brings forward a lot of musical talent. Acts like Balthazar, Amatorski and Bram Vanparys are such musical success formulas to name but a few. These musicians are both colleagues and friends of Douglas Firs which is recognizable in their music.

Will Firs become the new Phantom Monk of folk blues? Who knows, maybe he’ll become the next big thing. We hope Douglas Firs will stick to his guts and that he keeps writing quirky songs that make up more beautiful albums.

Singer-songwriterband La Corneille combines screaming rock with small songs about pain, love, loneliness and cheeseburgers and has won the Utrechtse Popprijs and Clash of the Titans in the past.
