Who doesn’t recognize the legendary reggae duo Chaka Demus & Pliers ? With their famous singles ‘Murder She Wrote’ and ‘Tease Me’ they conqured music charts in the 90’s and now they are back in The Netherlands for the first time in 20 years. Their sunny mix of reggae, ska and dancehall is garantee for a tropical Jamaican party!

Rough-voiced deejay Chaka Demus and smooth-toned vocalist Pliers have come together to create one of the most successful duos in the history of Jamaican music. The first Jamaican act to place three consecutive singles in the Top Five of the British music charts, the duo have continued to make their presence felt. Both Chaka Demus & Pliers had established successful solo careers prior to combining their efforts, but they were only able to achieve big international succes after they combined their efforts.

Their debut album ‘Tease Me’ appeared in Januari 1994, this included their first six singles and a new variation on George Clinton’s (Parliament/Funkadelic) anthem ‘One Nation Under Groove’. The duo’s second album, ‘She Don’t Let Nobody’ got released in 1995 and became number four in the British album charts and not even a year later , in 1996,  their third album ‘For Every Kinda Person’ appeared.  After an extended period away from the studio, Chaka Demus & Pliers returned in 2001 with ‘Help Them Lord, released’ ,‘Trouble and War’ in 2003, ‘Back Against the Wall’ in 2005, and their latest album ‘So Proud’ in 2008, while they continued to tour and perform at festivals.

Never mind the neat binary opposition of rude ragga attack and lovers' rock caress, with Chaka Demus and Pliers we're talking the raw and the cooked, reggae style. Fat and thin, rough and smooth, body and soul, earth and air . . . you name it, and big, brassy Chaka and oh-so-smooth Mr Pliers mix it up.
