Brandishing an authentic and no-frills approach to life and music, the seasoned touring heartthrob is poised to break the ceiling. 2021 marks the release of his third EP,Slow Mornings, a charming 6-tracker that captures an incredibly formative period in the 23-year-old’s life. Marking a memory bank of the highs and lows of the last 18 months,Slow Mornings dives into new love–let alone a long-distance love in a COVID-world–and all its frustrations, anticipations, mountain tops and valleys.

Amid the personal and global hurdles 2020 threw at him, Jack took it in his stride and played over 90 COVID-safe shows across the country, from regional hotspots to multiple sold-out nights at Melbourne’s Northcote Social Club, and a debut on the arena stage alongside the likes of Ocean Alley, Jack River and Ruby Fields. While ducking and weaving between state border closures in his van,n avigating constantly changing capacities and performing multiple shows each night, you’d be forgiven for thinking his energy would be completely zapped, but still, Slow Mornings was born.”This EP is a collection of tracks that represent a pretty crazy point in my life, and career.

All the ups and downs of balancing a long-distance relationship with work. It talks about all the moments when you want to throw the towel in and give up, to the realisation that giving up just isn’t an option, despite the heartache,” Jack shares. “The pandemic gave me a lot of time to think (sometimes too much) and dive into different genres and styles of writing. I feel I ventured out a little bit more than I ever have, which I really enjoyed. This EP will always remind me of a really tough year, but I appreciate everything that came from those lessons.”While the EP certainly channels the year’s fatigue and uncertainty, Slow Mornings stands as an energetic, bright and free-flowing batch of songs. From the engrossing surge of ‘18th Floor’ to the quirky edge of ‘I’ve Got You’ and sweet sadness of ‘Tattoos’,Slow Mornings is packed to please.Jack Botts releases independently and is distributed via UNIFIED Music Group. Slow Mornings is out in full Friday June 4, 2021.
