PETE PHILLY & PERQUISITE

Friday 17 May 2024 2024

Singer and songwriter Pete Philly and producer Perquisite first crossed paths in Amsterdam. Perquisite, who also ran the Dutch nu-jazz/hip-hop label Unexpected Records, recognized potential in the Aruba-born singer, and vice versa, leading to the release of their collaborative album, Mindstate. Afterward, both went their separate ways, but the duo decided to reunite for a grand concert at AFAS Live in early 2023. Additionally, Pete & Perq announced the upcoming release of a new album scheduled for spring 2024. Their first single, ‘Hot Sauce,’ has already been named TopSong on Radio 2; they recently performed their second single, ‘Mayhem,’ live on Sophie & Jeroen. To celebrate the release of their third album, the duo will embark on a European tour in May 2024, including a performance at PAARD on Friday, May 17. Their music can be best described as hip-hop with influences from jazz, the sixties, and electro.

She has already performed as support for Jeangu Macrooy and the legendary soul singer Gladys Knight at Carré. Her debut EP, which she produced alongside Perquisite, was presented on March 9th in a packed Paradiso upstairs room and revolves around the quest for balance between self-love and loving others.
