This is the late show, click here for the early show.

In the run-up to the release of his new album Lonely City Exit Wounds, the Blaudzun shows his audience how that album and the accompanying tour come about. In June, the Dutch singer and composer will start a series of ‘Backstage Sessions’ with his band, in which visitors can take a look at his musical kitchen.

During the sessions, the visitor imagines himself in the Blaudzun studio and a little later ‘being present’ at a public rehearsal with his band members. While Blaudzun is looking for melodies and songs, a new show is born that goes from small and intimate to grand, and ends in an energetic concert with lots of new music. June 22, 2021 you can experience it live in PAARD!

A look at the musical kitchen

Blaudzun explains: ‘Last year I worked on a new album in the studio. The songs are almost all ready and I really want to share them on stage and play them live. I miss the contact and interaction with my audience. Within the Covid restrictions we have looked for a safe concert form that fits this phase and a new chapter. Together with my partly new band I give a glimpse into my musical kitchen. I want to take the audience on my journey from song writing, recording and rehearsal to performing live on stage. Origin, creation, development.”

After a period of relative silence, Blaudzun made an impression on radio and TV in recent months with his new single REAL HERO. The first track from his latest album Lonely City Exit Wound, due out this year! The song was Topsong on Radio 2. During the Backstage Sessions, Blaudzun also plays older work, but especially many new songs that have never been heard live before. “The concerts are not try-outs for something that will take place in final form later. But visitors do see and hear a musical performance in the making’, says Blaudzun. “It can happen that I start a song over again, or that I try a different version of a song in a different line-up with a different arrangement. The public is free to ask questions.”

“ 'Ik wil het publiek meenemen in mijn reis van liedjes schrijven, opnemen en repeteren tot aan het live vertolken op het podium. Oorsprong, creatie, ontwikkeling.’ “
