YODOK III

Sunday 24 February 2019 2019

When putting three fine exponents of modern, forward-thinking and experimental music in the same room, the hope is that something a little special is going to be the result. Yodok III are
exactly that, all three recognisable by their contribution and yet forced to go beyond that by the other two. Yodok III is primarily a study in avantgarde, but elements of genres as diverse as
jazz, (post)rock and even classical can be heard playing their part in this mind-bending tapestry.

The men know how to integrate influences from very diverse genres such as jazz, (post) rock and even classical in a very ingenious way. But that can not be otherwise with a composition like this, where vocals can not be found. The band consists of Tomas Järmyr on the drums, Kristoffer Lo on the tuba and the flugabone and Dirk Serries played the electric guitar. Is it experimental? It certainly is, but that does not mean that it is also very exciting.

“ "Om uit te komen bij de overtreffende trappen van overweldigend, ontroerend, louterend en alomvattend. Een climax die maar voortduurt en voortduurt en nog veel te kort is. Grote woorden? Nog doen ze deze muziek geen eer aan!." “
