PERSONAL TRAINER

Indie giants return to The Hague

Wednesday 24 March 2027

For a number of years, Personal Trainer has been one of the most interesting acts of the Dutch indie scene. The band, led by frontman Willem Smith, was the first ever to play a 24-hour set at Paradiso, won an Edison for the album ‘Still Willing,’ and recently played their biggest show ever at CarrĂ©. The band has also played at PAARD several times, and with their new album ‘Human Assholes’ in tow, they are set to surprise us again.

Human Assholes

Personal Trainer’s third album, ‘Human Assholes,’ is once again a celebration of the band’s creativity and diversity. For writing this album, frontman Willem Smith chose a different approach compared to predecessors ‘Big Love Blanket’ and ‘Still Willing.’ Instead of cutting and pasting behind a computer screen, the songs on Human Assholes were written in a physical space with the entire band present, resulting in a beautifully organic-sounding record.
