Paardcafé: HONDSDOL

Saturday 13 April 2024 2024

During HONDSDOL, 6 local and not so local punk rock / metal bands take to the Paardcafe stage for a blast of an evening! Expect an evening full of uplifting beats, screaming guitars and raw energy!

Rising Down is a four-piece Grungerock band from The Hague, Netherlands. The band is characterized by its sound, which combines 90’s rock from Seattle with heavier (Progressive) Metal. The combination of screams, ripping guitar riffs, complex bass lines, and banging drums makes for a lot of refreshing music. Take your mind off and your caps in, because they go hard!

On February 14, 2022 Leiden-based Ācīd Rēflūx saw their first stage in a grimey basement, since then they have projected their Grunge/Punk-influenced sound in DIY venues, clubs and stages. With a fist in the fight for the Leiden scene, the guys do everything they can to keep the DIY punk scene alive. The powerful riffs, punchy basslines, clattering vocals and rousing drums clearly show inspiration from bands like Soundgarden, Nirvana, Green Day and Foo Fighters. The trio consisting of; Punk addict Puck (bass), Classic Rock cat Huub (drums) and grungehead Rikkert (guitar, vocals) released their debut EP; DIXI on Oct. 28 and are sending signals that the shit show is far from over.

HARD VOOR WEINIG has been making activist anarcho-hardcore punk since 2007 and consists of Pim (guitar and backing vocals), Ruben (drums and backing vocals) and Jurre (bass and lead vocals). In the early years, the band released 2 CDs. In 2020, their 3rd album ‘ILL’ was released online, now also available to listen to on vinyl. In 2021 the singles ‘Woonrecht’ and ‘De Ezel En De Engel’ appeared online and in 2023 the single ‘Jij Bent Mijn Boer Niet’: all three with a music video on Youtube.

Hard Voor Weinig draws inspiration from bottom-up struggles around themes from anti-racism and climate justice to anti-capitalism, animal rights and housing struggles. They prefer to play at activist-motivated venues such as demos and benefit nights with an eye for a diverse lineup.

Cult Of Carnage is a band with a great passion for extreme metal. They hail from the growing city of Almere in the Netherlands and launched in April 2022. The music, inspired by the debilitating aggression of death and thrash metal, tells of brutality, destruction and the dark side of man. The five members with a shared vision combine bone-breaking riffs, dizzying solos, thundering drumming and rugged vocals to create music that is both ferocious and sophisticated.

They draw a lot of inspiration from the pioneers of the genres and try to give their music its own Cult of Carnage twist and identity.

AstroNutz is a four-piece rock band from Almere, the Netherlands. In 2023, three singles (Whiner Little Cry Baby, Toy and No Regrets) have come online and they are now in the completion phase of their Debut album which will be released in early 2024! The band performed in many great venues, had the opportunity to put down a cool support for ‘Call it Off’ during their “Welcome Back” tour and even reached 37th place in Kink FM’s Kink Fast top 100!

CLOUDSURFERS is a dangerously delicious mix of sunny surf and solid punk. Manic guitar passages and grungy vocals are propelled by a blazing rhythm section. CLOUDSURFERS combines the unpredictability of Pulp Fiction with the sweat of Oh Sees and the garage pop of Together Pangea: that’s a pretty fucking good milkshake!
