NOUVELLE VAGUE

New wave-hits from the eighties in a loungy bossa nova-way.

Due to logistical problems, Nouvelle Vague will arrive later in the Netherlands. The concert will start at 21:30. To pass time, you can go to the lobby for a drink, or you can go to the concert of modern Jazz Trio Demuth Wiltgen in the small room for free.

Coverbands: they are with many. But there is no coverband like Nouvelle Vague. This French collective had their break through ten years ago with a genius recipe for success: turning new wave hits from the eighties into loungy bossa nova’s. A bold, but smart move.

To many lovers of the genre it was a shock to hear the repertoire of bands such as Joy Division, Depeche Mode and The Sisters of Mercy be turned into sultry Brazilian lounge songs. Nouvelle Vague, however, seemed to be masters at transforming them.

The time seems right to write a new chapter in the Nouvelle Vague saga: with a new album “I
Could Be Happy”. Athol Brose is the first EP of the band since 2010 and its coterie of female
vocalists. Nouvelle Vague and Friends is thus more of a nexus of forthcoming projects: a new
album comprised of punk and post punk standards imbued with the inimitable Nouvelle Vague
touch and for the first time original songs written by Marc Collin and Olivier Libaux.
