It does not surprise anyone that our Southern neighbours have an awful lot of awesome music to offer. The five-headed Het Zesde Metaal is one of those bands Belgium can be proud of: intriguing pop music with strong, poetic lyrics.

The brainchild of singer/songwriter Wannes Cappelle, ever-revolving Belgian indie rock outfit Het Zesde Metaal formed in 2005. Born in Wevelgem in 1979, Cappelle has become renowned for juggling his music career with several ventures into theater, performing in critically acclaimed productions based on subjects as varied as the First World War and manic depression as well as writing for the children’s show Ik Verzamel U. Also a member of Dutch group Roosbeef, Cappelle released his first record as part of Het Zesde Metaal in 2008 with Akattemets and followed it up in 2012 with Ploegsteert.

Their new and fourth album Calais is both personal and universal. The songs dig deeper than ever and the sultry elektronica is an enrichment of the stories that Cappelle and his writing partner Robin Aerts tell their audience. We can not wait to her the result live.

“ Melodieën strijken tegen de haren in om dan ineens in een romantische stroomversnelling te raken “
