Magic Moon

The Belgian band Evil Empire Orchestra brings a cross-over of psychedelica, souljazz and garagefunk. The band consists of the raw soulfull vocals and mystical fire of Kimberly Dhondt and the godless grooves of her band. After the debut release in 2017, things went fast for them. They got theirselves an invite to ‘De wereld draait door’, a fully booked festvial agenda and a clubtour.

The Belgians traveled recently to China for their two-week tour. They also went to the Amsterdam based Electric Monkey studio for the recording of their debutalbum ‘Start a Fire’, which will be released at March 8th. “This album is a protestsong. Whatever brews in society rages within us. We want to evoke a dialogue through fire and thrill. Back to what is animalistic and pure. A cry to whatever is right and lasting” says the band about ‘Start a Fire’.

Evil Empire Orchestra:
Kimberly Dhondt – vocals Thomas Deckx – drums
Mukti Gabriels – guitar Dennis Nicles – bass
Martijn van den Broek – keyboard/percussion Wannes Jacobs – bariton sax
Joachim Thys – tenor sax Kris van Hees – trumpet

The first single titled ‘Preditor (Howl)’ of their upcoming album is out now. As usual, Evil Empire Orchestra will blow everyone away during their ‘Start a Fire’ tour.

Magic Moon

Magic Moon sounds like a moshpit in a thriftshop; unexpected, sometimes referring to older times and filled with suprising gems psychedelic rock is served with a combination of banging drums, poly-phonic vocals, fuzzy guitars and a pounding organ.

"De stem van Dhondt houdt het midden tussen Beth Gibbons en Janis Joplin. Pure, compromisloze energie met een strakke ritmesectie, geil klinkende bassist en een hecht trio van blazers, die eigenzinnige kleur toevoegt."
