HOST
Jermaine Berkhoudt

Besides his sidequests as Host, MC, Sound Designer and Actor. Jermaine Berkhoudt joined the then local indie hiphop label ‘VanIeder1’ (2010-2015) as a young rapper at the age of 19. As former vocalist/frontman of the band ‘Funky Organizers’ (2014-2017) he was one of the best booked bands during the Poprond’15, during their tours through France and their fully scheduled summer tours along major festivals, he gained a lot of experience with live music.

BAND
The Tonal Few

After two years of grooving across Europe, The Tonal Few presents STEPS, their first studio album. Loyal to the party-jazz label, it is full of energy, groove and joy, but at the same time a very honest album, talking about the challenges we all go through at different steps of a life journey. The music reflects the background of bandleader Antonin, from classical percussion to many other styles and instruments, creating a mix of influences that gives the music its unique sound.
Recorded in three intense days, the album is a real test, as the band focuses on production, layering and overdubs, in contrast to the freedom of their live performances. “It shows us where we are now, and now that we accept it, let’s dance.

After short introduction sets from the artist, there’s plenty room to jam. We’re creating a new space where musicians and music lovers can come together, connect, and build relationships through their shared love of musical exploration.

About our partners:

OSHI is a platform for talent development that creates fertile ground for driven musicians and aspiring creative professionals through collaboration and connection. Our vision is to become a leading entity within the Dutch music industry for R&B, soul, jazz, hip-hop, and related genres. OSHI was founded in collaboration with a strong network of partners, including House of Knowledge, Orisun Studio, PAARD, Super-Sonic Jazz, Paradiso, BIRD, Patronaat, and INI Movement.

The Royal Conservatoire in The Hague, founded in 1826, is the oldest conservatoire in the Netherlands. It combines tradition with innovation and is renowned for its excellent jazz department, providing an inspiring environment for musicians and dancers from all over the world.

Community Connector: Babin

Born in Nepal and raised in Barcelona, Babin Olano moved to the Netherlands five years ago to study jazz guitar at the Royal Conservatoire. Since then, he has performed at festivals such as North Sea Jazz Festival, Sniester Festival, Prinsjesnacht, Scheveningen Surf Festival, and Uit Festival, and played in venues like Melkweg, BIRD, PAARD Café, Café September, and Zwarte Ruiter. These experiences have given him valuable insights into how strong and sustainable live music communities are built.

What excites him about Dune Sessions is its potential to become a true meeting place for emerging voices, collaboration, and experimentation. While he has experienced vibrant jam sessions in cities like Amsterdam (Supersonic Jam) and Barcelona (Marula Café jams), I see a clear opportunity to further develop that same energy in a unique way in The Hague.
