Armed with his acoustic guitar, Dotan began writing for his upcoming album, stories closest to his heart. Unlike his earlier, darker work, his latest collection of songs is inspired by light, the opposite of darkness. He was inspired by music he listened to as a child with his father, such as James Taylor, Neil Young and Cat Stevens. He found beauty in the rough edges of the production and raw honesty in the lyrics. As he wrote for his new record, Dotan developed a healthier relationship with music. He discovered that music could sound sunny and bright, be inspiring and celebrate life. This discovery is at the heart of Dotan’s upcoming album, a folk-like record that tells the story of happier chapters in his life and looks ahead to what is to come.
