Rhythmic virtuosity takes you back to the glory days of soul and rock 'n' roll

Saturday 15 August 2026

During the National Commemoration of August 15, 1945, singing drummer Marlon Pichel will take the stage. This Rotterdam-born artist brings a raw, soulful voice and rhythmic virtuosity that transports you to the glory days of soul and rock ‘n’ roll. In 2025, Marlon Pichel and his seven-piece band performed at more than 35 festivals. With new music on the way, 2026 promises to be even better.
Pichel will perform the song ‘Aku jatuh cinta’ together with the Royal Air Force Orchestra during the commemoration, a song he always sang with his Indo grandfather. Afterwards he will come to PAARD for a full show.

Marlon Pichel is a singing drummer from Rotterdam with a burning passion for southern soul. With rhythmic virtuosity, a raw voice and an infectious energy, he brings the spirit of the ’60s to life. He is inspired by soul giants like Otis Redding and Wilson Pickett, but always with his own unmistakable touch.

In 2023 he released his acclaimed debut album Good Ol’ Loving, which was warmly received by radio and television. Together with his seven-piece band — powered by a punchy horn section — he creates a timeless yet refreshing live experience that lingers long after the last note fades.

It’s no surprise that some call him “The Upcoming King of Rock & Soul.”

Before the concert at PAARD, Marlon Pichel first performs at the Indies Commemoration and then plays at PAARD.
