The man who continues scoring with his Dutch hiphop, until he finally releases his sixth (!) Album: ‘Karavaan’. The songwriter / rapper (real name: Koen Jansen, from 1980) has been on the move over the past years through the success of his former album Waves. Together with his band members he felt like a Karavaan on tour, thirsty for the next gig. And they followed: Three club tours, a festival tour and an extensive theater tour, with a sold-out Royal Theater Carré as a highlight brought him to hundreds of stages and thousands of people. There were platinum hits with JW Roy (Treur niet (Ode aan het leven) and Ali B (Ik huil alleen bij jou), jubilant reviews and invitations to write songs for various artists like Guus Meeuwis, André Hazes, 3JS and Kinderen voor Kinderen. These successes lead the foundation for Karavaan.

Twelve years after his debut “Verhalen vanuit de sofa”, it feels like the songwriter / rapper is just starting. In those years he has found and broadened his own style.  He scored with ‘Slaap Lekker’ (Fantastisch Toch), a collaboration with the Flemish singer Eva de Roovere, a hit in the Netherlands and Belgium, played at all festivals and in all clubs in the Netherlands. He also took care of the music for the film Kankerlijers and the title song for the TV series A’dam-E.V.A.

The basis is and remains hip hop, but is rarely the final destination. Similarly to Karavaan, his new, sixth album for which French pop music was an important source of influence. Caravan is a collection of travel songs, stories of music that take you on a journey without a destination. Karavaan is the sound of someone who is open to the world and enjoys the simple things in life: each other’s company, music, sun, fun and the moment. The start of the album this summer was the first single De Zon Op, which became Topsong at Radio 2. With Karavaan under the arm and his band around him Diggy Dex is ready to go on the road again.
