Slagwerk Den Haag invites Jameszoo [WORDT GEANNULEERD – LIVESTREAM]

Friday 22 January 2021 2021

At the beginning of 2020, Jameszoo got access to Slagwerk Den Haag their expertise and the enormous candy store of instruments in their studio. The ‘naive computer jazz’ with which Jameszoo has taken the world by storm (with unconditional support from Brainfeeder) in recent years, makes him an ideal partner to explore together and stretch genre boundaries. A concert with (new) music by Jameszoo in a Slagwerk Den Haag setting!

On stage, Jameszoo and Slagwerk Den Haag are supplemented by Zapp4 string quartet.

This event is the Livestream, for tickets for the early event click here or for the late show here.

Jameszoo
In the past Mitchel van Dinther (as Jameszoo is actually called) was a gifted taekwondoka. When an injury threw a spanner in the works, the athlete changed missions and the dojo was traded in for the turntable. When the DJ was allowed to study at the Red Bull Music Academy in New York in 2013, he met the people behind Flying Lotus, including bassist Thundercat, and Jameszoo developed into one of the most exciting new jazz artists of the moment. With his naive computer jazz, the musician knows how to renew himself time and again.

Zapp 4
String quartet Zapp 4 brings a smile to the face. Whether it is with their adaptations of classics by Nirvana and Radiohead or with work that lends itself more to the classical string instruments, the collective knows best how to use them. All four musicians compose and that makes the foursome a special group. From harmonies to pizzicato, there’s nothing Zapp 4 can’t do.

PAARD x SLAGWERK THE HAGUE
Two major concepts from The Hague combine their musical strengths. Expect a series of concerts by the top musicians of the innovative Slagwerk Den Haag, custom made for PAARD’s Grote Zaal. After more than 40 years, the adventurous group still manages to remain relevant by collaborating and co-creating with leading choreographers, producers and other exciting new makers from various art disciplines.

This program is made possible in part by Fonds Podium Kunsten.
