Wouter Hamel

With inspiration from the jazzy pop from the 30s to 50s, sprinkle music with a 70s sauce over it.

Wouter Hamel is such a rare artist that you feel that he and his songs have always been there. Nevertheless, Wouter HamelĀ  has been an established name in the Netherlands since 2007 and far beyond. Creative wanderings and challenges make a person grow, but do not change who you are in the bottom of your heart and Wouter knows all about it. A decade after he placed his musical beacons in the unexplored area where jazz and pop meet with his successful albums ‘Hamel’ and ‘Nobody’s Tune’, he returns to his musical primal source. Refined by the experience with his more pop-oriented adventures, Hamel’s sound is as always. But also tightened up as his new album will soon be (spring 2019).

Hamel and his band draw their inspiration from the jazzy pop from the 30s to 50s, sprinkle music over a 70s sauce over it and bring it into the 21st century with impetus from many other movements. Hamel will let you hear this mixed sound on May 1st in Paard.
