Hussey is inspired in his younger years by Marc Bolan and his band T.Rex. He rebelled against his religious parents, who wanted him to become a missionairy. Instead he became a musician. After he gained fame as part of the dance-pop band Dead or Alive things went fast and he became a keyfigure in the goth-rock scene. Together with Julianne Regan he released in 2011 an album called Curious, which he followed up with the almost entirely acoustic Songs of Candlelight & Razorblades.
