UNDER THE BOARDWALK: OUD & NIEUW

Tuesday 31 December 2013 2013

The roaring twenties. Somewhere in the United States. Glamourous women enter the theater encompanied by their charming gentlemen dressed in smoking. There's laughing, flirting and dancing all around. The first notes of the so called jazz-music are slowly but steadily conquering the smoke-filled nightclubs. But nothing is as it seems...Following the prohibition of alcohol everywhere in America, the pleasures and joys of the nation are shifting to secret cellars, hidden ballrooms, and speakeasies, whilst illegal alcohol is being produced in the backrooms. The people drown themselves in gold-colored whiskey and champagne to let their daily life sparkle just a bit more. A dark, but exciting time in which Al Capone and Ernest Hemingway became living legends, and the sounds of charleston and tommyguns intervened with each other constantly.Enter Paard van Troje in the roaring twenties: dangerously temptingWelcome to the nightlife of the twenties, on New Year's Eve.Step into the mundane ballroom, where hit songs are being led by sparkling disco balls whilst champagne flows abundantly. Follow the dark sounds of the past decades and come on down to the neighbouring secret whiskey distillery. Don't piss off Al Capone. Let yourself be tempted the whole night long in the café, where the swinging speakeasy creates a great atmosphere. During Burlesque-shows the charming women will be coloring all cheeks burgundy red, while the swing, ragtime and charleston cause all feet on the dancefloor to move.Entice others and let yourself be seduced during Under The Boardwalk, and bring a gold-colored toast to the year 2014.
