THE OCEAN

The Berliner men from The Ocean remain very modest by putting their work on the Facebook page under the genre ‘music with guitars in it’, because with their dirty sludge and gruff prog metal combined with post-hardcore influences , they make a statement that comes in like a wreckingball. What is special about this band is that it started out as ‘The Ocean Collective’ and had ever-changing band members. Since a few years this has calmed down considerably and we could say that the occupation is reasonably solid.

With this line-up and more guest artists than ever before, the long awaited eighth studio album ‘Phanzerzoic I’ has been released. The record is the missing link between the earlier albums ‘Precambrian’ and ‘Heliocentric’ and will be accompanied by a part two that will come out in 2020 respectively.

Armed with their new single ‘As Our Bones Break to the Dance’ – also a foretaste for the new album ‘Ethic of Radical Finitude’ that will be released on February 9, 2019 – the guys from Downfall or Gaia will go to battle as support act for The Ocean. Their new track betrays that the men in no way intend to abandon their extreme sound. Brace yourself for a deadly melange of sludge, black metal and post-hardcore.

Herod swings the scepter in the Swiss progressive sludge. In February their newest album ‘Sombre Dessein’ is released: a record with dizzying riffs and polyrhythmic patterns. With the extreme and technical of Meshuggah and the progdrift of King Crimson, inspirations are diverse, with the threat as a constant factor.
