THE HAGUE BLUES

World-class artists within the genre

Friday 5 September 2025

After a successful first edition in Zuiderpark, The Hague Blues is moving to the ultimate pop temple of The Hague: PAARD. On Friday, September 5, 2025, a spectacular second edition is set to take place, featuring three world-class artists: Julian Sas, AJ PLUG (NL), and Jose Ramírez (USA). With this lineup, The Hague Blues brings the very best of the blues to The Hague. From virtuoso guitar playing to deeply soulful vocals – this evening will be a pure tribute to the blues.

José Ramirez was robbed of his backpack just a few weeks ago, which included, among other things, his passport. Due to the lack of any form of identification, José Ramirez has been forced to immediately return to Costa Rica to apply for a new passport and renewed residence documents for the European Union. As a result, he is unfortunately required to cancel all show dates through the end of September.

While The Hague Blues took place in the open air in 2024, this year the organization has deliberately chosen the club atmosphere of PAARD, The Hague’s premier music venue. This legendary stage has already hosted unforgettable blues nights and provides the perfect setting for an immersive, raw, and intense blues experience.

  • Julian Sas replaces Laurence Jones

This Dutch blues rock legend has been known for decades for his raw guitar playing, soulful voice, and intense live performances. Inspired by the likes of Rory Gallagher and Jimi Hendrix, Sas uniquely blends blues, rock, and pure energy. With an impressive discography and an international fanbase, he’s a staple on European stages. This year, he was honored with a place in the Dutch Blues Hall of Fame, a well-deserved recognition of his contribution to Dutch blues.

Julian Sas will be replacing Laurence Jones, who unfortunately had to cancel all his 2025 shows due to illness. We wish Laurence a speedy recovery.

  • AJ PLUG

The ‘Queen of Dutch Blues’ guarantees goosebumps and pure passion. With her raw voice and heartfelt songs, she blows every venue away.

  • Toby Lee replaces Jose Ramírez

Toby Lee is the real deal — a mind-blowing guitarist with a voice to match.

Some say he was born in the wrong era. Multi-award-winning and already a seasoned performer, Toby has been captivating audiences since the age of ten.

His music exudes a class and sophistication far beyond his years, and his résumé is nothing short of remarkable. Entirely self-taught, Toby has appeared on major TV shows around the world, wowed audiences in London’s West End — earning an Olivier Award — and he’s still only just turned 20.

He’s shared the stage with blues and rock legends including Buddy Guy, Billy Gibbons, Peter Frampton, Slash, and Joe Bonamassa, cementing his place as one of the brightest young talents in the industry.

He spent 2024 touring as a special guest to Jools Holland and his Rhythm & Blues Orchestra.

Toby’s future is blazing — and he’s only just getting started.
