STEF KAMIL CARLENS & THE POEM

Poetic harmony from Belgium

Sunday 4 October 2026

Three voices, one world. SKC’s distinctive raspy tenor is carried by the velvet-soft alto of Nel Ponsaers and the soulful soprano of Rahmat Emonds. Harmonies are at the heart of it all, yet each of the three steps forward as a soloist in their own right, bringing every song to life from a different angle and emotional world. In every musical adventure SKC embarks on, his deep love for sound and colour bleeds through. With The Poem is no different: he travels with an exceptional array of guitars, basses, organs, analogue synths and striking automated percussion. At times, it feels as though an invisible fourth musician has joined the trio on stage. The result is a concert that stays with you. Minimal in form, immense in feeling. An evening of goosebump moments, for those who experience music as literature.

Stef Kamil Carlens is one of the most distinctive voices in the Belgian music scene. After Moondog Jr. and a stint as bassist with dEUS, he founded Zita Swoon, later reborn as The Swoon: a seven-piece band with whom he delivered the widely acclaimed album Be(e) Who You Wanna Be(e) in 2024. With high-energy, funky and colourful live shows, he took both press and audiences by surprise.

Together with fellow Swoon vocalists and multi-instrumentalists Nel Ponsaers and Rahmat Emonds, he forms an intimate trio on the boundary of poetry, literature and music. For this project, they rework songs from SKC’s extensive back catalogue and dive deep into the rich tradition of the singer-songwriter, in search of those gems where the written word and music flow seamlessly into one another.
