SAUL WILLIAMS

Wednesday 23 March 2016 2016

"A modern-day renaissance man," the title fits nobody better than Saul Williams. He is one of the best-selling poets ever, he plays on Broadway (with music by Tupac Shakur) and on canvases (starring "Slam") and is active as a public speaker and motivator. But why we want him to get to The Hague mostly, is his brilliant blend of poetry and alternative hip hop which he surprised many listeners with. Artists like Trent Reznor (Nine Inch Nails), Will Oldham, DJ Krush, Zack de la Rocha ( RATM), Serj Tankian (System of a Down), Black Sun Empire and Rick Rubin were eager to team up with him.

Fader
Williams ‘latest creative project and fifth album’ Martyr Loser King’ was one big artistic excess. Martyr Loser King is a character living in Burundi and build a Frankenstein’s monster-like supercomputer with old computer parts from the dump. The concept was released with an album, a graphic novel with illustrations by Ronald Wimberley and a national US tour of a month. For his latest album Fader, which will be released in February, he comes finally to Europe. Fortunately The Hague is one of the stations where he will stop!
