Urban Dance Squad was a Dutch rap rock band originally formed for a one-time jam session at a festival in Utrecht in 1986. The band consisted of a guitarist, bassist, drummer, rapper and DJ. This composition eventually resulted in the first Dutch rock band with a rapper in which different cultures were mixed. UDS’s music is a mix of many genres, including funk, soul, heavy metal, hip hop, reggae, jazz and ska. Throughout their career they fluctuated between genres, in the middle of Urban Dance Squad’s career they decided to capitalize more on the success of grunge and alt-rock while later returning to their original hip-hop roots by the end of their carreer.

Hailing from the Bronx, New York City, 24-7 Spyz specializes in fusing funk and heavy metal, with often message-filled lyrics. The group’s leaders from their formation in 1986 to the present are guitarist Jimi Hazel and bassist Rick Skatere. 24-7 Spyz released their debut album ‘Harder Than You’ in 1988, this album received a lot of MTV and media attention.
