Paardcafé: Scarlet Rose + Color Bones

Saturday 20 April 2024 2024

In the green polders of the land of Maas and Waal, a rebellious teenager, the perfect son-in-law, your favorite colleague and a slightly hyperactive adolescent decided to start the indie pop band Scarlet Rose.

Just before the pandemic, the band did its first gig right away but at the famous Cavern Club during the International Pop Overthrow Festival. This was followed by a tour of the Netherlands and shows on the radio at Q-Music and others, and they released their first EP. In 2022, the band went to England again for a more extensive tour with another show at the Cavern Club. One of the highlights of 2023 came about when the band played the aftershow of The
Kooks’ aftershow at Afas Live. Currently, the band is working hard on new material which will be released soon and can be described as a love baby of the bands ‘Vampire Weekend’, ‘Two Door Cinema Club’
and ‘Paul Simon’ on a layer of African and Latin American rhythms.

COLOR BONES is an indie rock trio with Mo Assem on guitar and vocals, Sjaak van Dam on drums, and Martijn Engels on bass. The creative process takes place in an old bunker in Utrecht. In 2018, the first album called Vermillion saw the light of day. The second album, Ultramarine, was released in 2021.

In September 2023, the third album, called Cadmium, was released. The first single from this album, Borders, was well received with airplay on KinkFM and inclusion in playlists curated by Spotify. COLOR BONES is influenced by Radiohead, Balthazar, Spoon and dEUS, but also draws inspiration from skate culture, improvisation with hang drums and synthesizers, visual media, animated films and philosophy. Always accompanied by mugs of coffee, black as humanity itself.
