Paardcafé: HBA on Tour

With a selection of bands from the performing arts program, they’ll tour various venues to share live music, gain experience, and showcase what the next generation of musicians has to offer.

In recent years, the Herman Brood Academy has produced several successful artists and bands. Who knows—you might just be watching the next big name tonight!

For this edition, the following up-and-coming acts will take the stage:
Floris Kegel is an indie-rock/dream-pop singer-songwriter from Haarlem. His new album is a concept album that tells the story of John—a character who will also serve as the band’s frontman. Floris Kegel combines soft, dreamy dream-pop songs with a very vulnerable vocal style and also delivers loud, band-driven indie-grunge tracks, in which both the singer and the distorted guitars scream.

The Amsterdam band Fietsband brings ska into your life in a fresh way. They sing about dancing, dancing alone, biking through the city, and typical urban drama: stolen bikes and yuppies. With up-tempo ska rhythms, playful synthesizers, and catchy lyrics, they deliver an energetic and danceable show that will have you on your feet.

Looking for something heavy? Then look no further than Vergilius. With a sound comparable to that of Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, and Velvet Revolver, you can be sure no one in the crowd will stand still. The band formed in mid-2024 in the studios of the Herman Brood Academy in Utrecht. United by their love for angst-filled lyrics and raspy vocals, Vergilius has clearly put itself on the HBA’s radar.
