New Year's concert (seated)Einaudi by LaviniaLavinia’s newest album Einaudi by Lavinia: Passaggio (Sony Classical) consists of pieces by the Italian composer/pianist Ludovico Einaudi. Lavinia has met Mr. Einaudi twice and he encouraged her to work on his pieces and approved of Lavinia’s renditions of famous compositions like Divenire, Passaggio, I Giorni, Nuvole Bianche, Mattina (which was included in the soundtrack of the movie Intouchables) and other Einaudi-classics. Lavinia is known for her dark, deep, and rich timbre in the lower register as played by her left hand, which she combines with gracious notes in the higher register played by her right hand.Lavinia Meijer is unquestionably succesful in her plea for the harp and takes every opportunity to demonstrate her passion for the versatile stringed instrument. Sweet romantic, baroque and minimal music, she plays it all but always very intense and explosive. Lavinia Meijer convincingly bridges the gap between various musical scapes. She has been seen in Carnegie Hall, the Concertgebouw and will now appear at Paard Van Troje too!

For her fourth album Metamorphosis/The Hours she single-handedly edited piano pieces of the originals from the inventor of minimal music, Philip Glass. She transformed his ‘Piano Works’ and themes from Glass’ soundtrack from The Hours into musical arrangements to be played solo on harp. Glass was very content with the results and stated that Lavinia opened up a whole new musical landscape. Not only Dutch media have found the great talent in Lavinia, but British press are lining up to talk to her as well.

Lavinia likes to experiment and combine with different kinds of art forms like theatre, dance, electronic and jazz. The prodigy has become a world famous star and this year she will be celebrating this joyful event as well as the new year at Paard Van Troje.
