KINGFISHER SKY

Support: Eve's Fall. The history of the Dutch band Kingfisher Sky starts in 2001, when drummer Ivar de Graaf leaves the gothic metal band Within Temptation, who were on the verge of their major international breaktrough...  Band of contrasts: prog, classical, metal and pop music.Together with the classicaly trained singer Judith Rijnveld, Ivar writes compositions that are not bound to one genre or style. It's hard to describe their style, but the term 'progressive mythrock' comes close.  Think of artists like Heart, Clannad, Tori Amos, Kate Bush, Peter Gabriel, Mike Oldfield and Pink Floyd on one side – and progrock like Porcupine Tree on the other. In short: contrasts - both soft and dreamy as well as hard and rocking.  They were signed to Suburban Records in 2006 and started recording their debut album 'Hallway of Dreams' together with producer duo Jochem Jacobs (Textures) and Bouke Visser in 2007. This was followed by 'Skin Of The Earth' in 2010. Metalfan.nl says: "The band knows when to kick the pedal, but also cheerfully plays with atmosphere and melody, with mostly a pleasant leading role by the female vocalist."New album thanks to crowdfundingThis year, the band is working on the release of their third album, which was fully crowdfunded online. With the addition of Nick Verschoor as the new bassist, Kingfisher Sky is ready to return on stages nationwide.
