KING DUDE

Wednesday 3 October 2018 2018

Presented by Grauzone

King Dude bridges the gap between neo folk, Americana, new wave goth and blues and is one of the most popular acts in the dark folk genre. The band, led by TJ Cowgill, was the highlight at festivals like Incubate and Roadburn, but despite that popularity you never know what to expect from this band. Except for the fact that King Dude is ghastly. At times, frontman TJ Cowgill seems to be completely obsessed with his favourite subject: the devil. A comparison with Nick Cave is made quickly, with his heavy voice that chews and growls. King Dude has admitted to making the most frightening sound in the world, so be prepared…

And King Dude is not the only act. This dark evening will also be filled by among others: Kaelanmikla!
The trio has a new sound. From post-punk, bass, drums and vocals to a relaxed vibe with neurotic synth loops, combined with bass and some vocals in the background. It has evolved. It is darker, stronger and able to bring us from everyday life to our nightmares. You wonder if it really is over, because you still feel those icy fingers coming to you.

“ Seattle's Thomas Jefferson Cowgill traded metal for finger-picking folk. But that hasn't made his songs any less chilling “
