Golden Cricket winner Guus van der Steen and his company KERN KOPPEN are back with a new play: KAMIKAZE COPILOOT. To be seen at the Kleine Zaal on 8 November.
With a Van Dale Spoken Award and several BUMA Awards to his name, Guus has already amply proven himself as a lyricist. In this new performance, he dives deep into the layered landscape of the contemporary zeitgeist. Philosophising and rhyming, he takes us along on his quest: How is man doing? What is lurking under the surface? Is there still room to dream? In this, the right questions are at least as important as the answers.
Dusty beats with distorted samples by Paya Arsenovic and Frank van der Steen are as quirky as Guus’s mocking humor – the show gives spoken word a new dimension and showcases a unique blend of poetically wrapped anecdotes, gritty raps, and lyrical analyses. The spectacle is enhanced by the visual expressions of renowned artist Jamel Armand, who has gone all out on the set and costumes.
