For more than a decade, het Residentie Orkest has been collaborating with PAARD in the Symphonic Junction series: A variety of special concerts where the worlds of classical and pop music collide. In each edition, the Residentie Orkest enters into a musical dialogue with an icon from pop music. Previous editions have featured artists such as Rufus Wainwright, Jane Schra, Hef, Pat Smith, Roos Meijer, Supersister, and Joep Beving.

Have you ever heard a full orchestra and a harmonica harmonize? Neither have we. That’s why during Symphonic Junction, the musical collaboration between the Residentie Orkest and PAARD, classical symphonies and (pop) music come together. During this edition, the Residentie Orkest will share the stage with singer and multi-instrumentalist Sarah Blake and harmonica player Hermine Deurloo. The evening promises musical fusions, orchestral interludes, and a curation of sounds you haven’t experienced before. A varied palette for musical connoisseurs and explorers alike!
The South African Sarah Blake masters a blend of jazz with Brazilian and folk influences, combined with timeless classic jazz and bossa nova. Her masterful command of the double bass, guitar, and bass guitar draws you in, accompanied by her soulful voice. As musical support from home soil, the Residentie Orkest and Sarah Blake share the stage with Hermine Deurloo. She is known for her lyrical, warm tones and virtuosic style. With her harmonica, she tells stories with effortless fluidity.
