Dutch pop heroes from Mokum

Saturday 18 January 2025

The Amsterdam Nederpop band Drukwerk was formed in 1978 by singer Harry Slinger and musicians Ton Coster, Joop May and Hans Witteveen. In the late 1970s, Drukwerk became known for their protest songs against, for example, the closure of youth clubs in Amsterdam-Noord, housing shortages and other abuses. In 1981 the band launched their longplayer with the gold single ‘Je Loog Tegen Mij’ (You lied to me), which reached number 1 in the Dutch Top 40 and can still be found in the NPO Radio 2 Top 2000. On January 18, 2025, these heroes will be in our Grote Zaal!

In the ten years that followed, Drukwerk released seven more studio albums with hits like “Marianneke,” “Schijn ‘n Lichtje Op Mij” and “Hee Amsterdam. Harry still sings favorites from the Drukwerk repertoire with indomitable energy, today with his son and keyboardist Bram, bassist Erik Bes, guitarist Bas Kors and veteran Marcel Lee behind the drums.
