In the European End-of-Year Show, we take stock of the European year. During this special live edition of the podcast Café Europa, Stefan de Vries and Hajar Yagkoubi delve into the key events of 2026 with political commentator Arjan Noorlander, military expert Michelle de Haas, and MEPs Marit Maij (PRO) and Raquel García Hermida (D66). Will Europe remain in the race against the great powers? Or will we get entangled in our self-spun web of rules?
CAFÉ EUROPA EINDEJAARSSHOW
Wednesday 9 December 2026
Russian sabotage actions, a hostile America, and an economic China shock: 2026 is the year in which Europe is under fire from all sides. Not to mention wildfires, Ceuta, and the rise of the radical right. Will Europe succumb to all these problems? Or will it force us to find renewed strength?
Tickets are free, but need to be claimed for entrance!

Yet it wasn’t all misery. Obstructionist Orbán disappeared from the scene, European leaders finally pushed back against Trump, and Ukraine held its ground again this year. Does this offer hope for 2027? We look ahead to what Europe still has in store. And what does our minority cabinet want in Europe? The European End-of-Year Show tells you everything you need to know about this crazy political year to understand the new one.
