STONEWALL – Day Program

a activist queer festival

Saturday 7 November 2026

We are proud to present our new activist queer festival: STONEWALL. The name is no coincidence; it refers to the 1969 riots in New York. An event that marks the origins of Pride. On November 7th, we will commemorate this in The Hague. This festival is an initiative by PAARD, Zwarte Ruiter, and Popdistrict, and is co-curated by Girls2theFront.

The festival will take place at PAARD (Kleine Zaal), Zwarte Ruiter, and September. Afterparties will be held at Grey Space and Zwarte Ruiter. During the day, there will be a free daytime program at various locations, including Onderstroom, Paardcafé, and Page Not Found. You can find the full program via the TMSQR app.

Words have power, and letters even more so. By playing with typography, colors, and materials, you can express the full weight of your emotions or your anger.
In this workshop, you will transform your anger, hope, and joy into a protest sign that cannot be ignored.

    14:00 – 18:00 Onderstroom Café

  • Panel + Spoken word: Queerrights

This panel brings together three generations and three forms of resistance. Since the early 1990s, Ligya Wachter has been organizing queer people of color in The Hague. Journalist Rocher Koendjbiharie uses his pen as a weapon. Venus Bijleveld has turned drag into an act of resistance, precisely at a time when drag itself has become a target. Together with moderator Gita Buhari, they discuss the attacks on queer lives, both here and around the world. They also explore how we fight back: through cross-border solidarity, caring for one another, and forms of resistance that go far beyond a rainbow-colored bike path.

The panel will be interspersed with spoken word and poetry by Hasan Gök, Geoffrey van der Ven, and Pelumi Adejumo.

A conversation for and by the community, focused on fighting for our rights and growing stronger together. Come listen, ask your questions, and leave knowing that you are not alone.

    15:30 – 17:15 GR8 theater

  • San & Kofa exhibition

The San & Kofa exhibition brings together archival materials and stories that present African queer and trans heritage across time and geography, while creating space for reflection and dialogue around what has been remembered, forgotten, and deliberately erased.

  • Queer Sundays + Muppetshow

Queer Sundays is an initiative for and by the creative queer community. Each month, they host a day filled with live music, poetry, art, DIY projects, and community building.
