An ambiance of atmospheric sounds, wrapped in an alt-rock guise with catchy pop hooks.
This rocking trio, featuring Marleen Klompenhouwer (vocals, guitars), Bas Maartense (bass guitar), and Emma Groen (drums and percussion), takes you on a journey through a symbiosis of contrasting emotions, or as they themselves put it, “our -kind of escalating- vent for the soothing soul.”
Velvet Sway originated in the city of The Hague (NL), where the North Sea breeze whispers of musical inspiration. The band narrates empathetically and compassionately about personal marvels, struggles and experiences, about friendship and relationship.
In their aesthetic sound, with a nod to late 90s alt-rock, you’ll find influences from diverse bands, including Newdad, Wolf Alice, Paramore, and Momma.
After trying out first bits of their work live in their local scene, Velvet Sway eagerly anticipates the moment they can share their music both on stage and online.
Their debut EP, titled ‘Origin’, will be released in the fall of 2023. Amidst this anticipation, the band will be dropping two singles: starting with the release of their debut single ‘Fire’ on September 29th.
