Journalist Raoul Duke (Johnny Depp) and his attorney Dr. Gonzo (Benicio del Toro) drive to Las Vegas to watch a motocross race. Raoul has to write a report about the race, which just doesn’t work out, because he and his lawyer end up in the strangest and tripping events every time. They travel in a red convertible, which is packed with booze and drugs. They experience a hallucinatory trip to the heart of The American Dream. Duke calls this event an assignment; for Dr. Gonzo is on a mission to save his client from self-destruction.
