José James is also called the jazz artist for the hip-hop generation. He has showcased his rich and graceful baritone voice through a series of unpredictable projects that have also blurred the lines between traditional and contemporary jazz, soul, funk, house and rock, among other genres. After two successful ”No Beginning No End” albums, a tribute to Bill Withers followed by an ode to Erykah Badu, James returns with his own show. On November 9, he will perform in the Grote Zaal with an impressive band.

SUPPORT: JHARIS YOKLEY

Rising star drummer, producer and songwriter Jharis Yokley is a force of nature spanning the hip-hop, jazz, R&B and rock scenes. A native of St. Louis, Missouri, Yokley graduated from the prestigious Berklee College, studying under jazz greats Terri Lynne Carrington and Danilo Pérez. Moving to Brooklyn in 2016 Yokley quickly became an in demand drummer, performing with artists such as Solange, Chance the Rapper, Ani DiFranco, Sleigh Bells, José James and DJ Premier. He is currently working on his forthcoming solo album coming in 2024.

 

After earlier quotes from John Coltrane, Marvin Gaye and Billie Holiday, José James released the album ‘On & On’ on the Ranbow Blonde Records label at the beginning of this year. On the album he plays with greats in the new generation; BIGYUKI, Jharis Yokley, Ben Williams, Ebban Dorsey, and Diana Dzhabbar
