Last summer Meral Polat went to the studio with musicians Chris Doyle and Frank Rosaly; the result is a beautiful trio full of wonder. A simple setup with an enchanting sound as a result.

The Meral Polat Trio takes a trip from Kurdish folk music to protest desert blues, from east to west and back. With her own lyrics and poems made by Meral’s dad, the Trio builds the songs with intriguing and compelling sounds. Songs in which beauty gets its space, next to intense sadness and desire of a supressed people and uptempo songs that celebrate love, freedom and life with a fiery inspiration.

At that moment the musical research began to find the right instrumentation, the right color and own way to combine a rich influence of disciplines, times, geographic landscapes and cultures. In an intimate setting they will bury that which makes us who we are, and take the listener with them completely.
