This concert is seated.Tonight, harpist Lavinia Meijer and the Attacca Ensemble (chamber choir) will bring the works of Philip Glass to life. Both Lavinia as the Attacca Ensemble have had the privilige to perform together with Glass.  Pieces from Akhnaten: The Funeral, Akhnaten: The Temples, but also from Einstein on the Beach and Hydrogen Jukebox will be performed. Philip Glass (1937) is one of the most influental composers of the late 20th century. He is seen as one of the pioneers of minimal music, together with Steve Reich and Terry Riley. With his recognisable and unique sound, he inspired many composers and musicians. His work is inseparable with modern day classical music and can be heard in many films, theatres, operas and concert venues. Lavinia Meijer is one of the most versatile harpists of this era and is the most inspired ambassador of the harp in Holland. She likes to experiment with different art forms, such as theatre, dance, electronic music and jazz. She won an Edison for her 2011 album Fantasies & Impromptus. In october 2012, she released an album full of works of Philip Glass: 'Metamorphosis - The Hours', which reached the platinum status.The Attacca Ensemble was founded in 2008 and exists of a chamber choir of variable size, sometimes complemented with instrumentalists. In its short existence, Attaca has built up a reputation as one of the leading choires of modern music and minimal music in particular.  In recent years, the Ensemble has succesfully performed works of Philip Glass, among which a concert version of Einstein on the Beach, which had not been performed in Holland since the premiere in the seventies. The precision and virtousity of the performances was loudly praised.
