After his carreer with Go Back To The Zoo and St. Tropez, Lars Kroon thought it was time for something new. The musician wanted to do something that contained all the aspects he loves about music. That’s how Lars And The Magic Mountain was born. A cult-like, arty band where droney vibes and not too many chords make the sound. Think bands like Sparklehorse, The Velvet Underground and The Jesus and Mary Chain. Songs that could go on forever, with a gigantic number of instruments and musicians. The project literally became bigger than Kroon could’ve imagined, with for example a gospelchoir and violins. On Febuari 9th 2021 the band will play the Grote Zaal.

The bands first record Everything Looks Good From Here contains a message of dedication, honesty and hope. Maybe the pinnacle of this feeling is the song ‘Song For Sasha’ which Lars wrote for his then unborn son. In times of crisis, with a wordwide pandemic and fires that need to be put out all over the world. With this song Kroon wanted to show his kid that everything would turn out to be allright.

One part of the songs on the record are mixed by Ali Chant (who worked with Aldous Harding and Soccer Mommy), the other ones were produced by Lars himself. All the video’s are made by Lars’ wife; Sanja Marusic.

“ Lars And The Magic Mountain klinkt soms als The Beatles op hun meest experimentele momenten. “
