Historian Beatrice de Graaf leads us out of the current crises

After 15 packed theaters with over 5000 attendees, Beatrice de Graaf concludes her CRISIS! History Tour with us! From the Ukraine war and the pandemic to our own housing and nitrogen crisis, the major challenges of our time make us uncertain and paralyze politicians. But how did we handle this in the past? There were also epidemics, refugee crises, and natural disasters, but without vaccines, safety regions, or delta works.

During this evening (also available as a livestream), Beatrice de Graaf shows how previous societies overcame major problems. It is precisely in times when everything seems senseless, desperate, and hopeless that new ideas and groundbreaking innovations emerge. In an adventurous journey through major crises from Napoleon to the present, De Graaf demonstrates how unknown histories can inspire us to great deeds and belief in the future. How did the Netherlands overcome the cholera pandemic? How could seemingly hopeless wars lead to long periods of peace? And why are we better protected now from previous floods? In this evening full of captivating stories and colorful examples, De Graaf reveals once again how history lessons can be our first aid in times of trouble.
