Two bands with a shared love for American and English folk and country: Friends of the Family and AlascA. The two bands already jointly played on Once Upon A Time In The West, the Rotterdam based newcomer in festivalland. Inbetween hay bales, rodeo bull and totem pole, the two bands found their chemistry.

Friends of the Family
When you place ten musicians together with a good sense of entertainment and audience participation on one stage, than you have an evening with Friends of the Family. The group released their homonymous album last fall and will present their second record next spring. On their second album, the Friends will show the musical diversity of the different band members. All wraped up in a Friends of the Family package, that means with banjo and mandolin, that makes the band so recognizable.

AlascA
Now you do not only hear the so called “paling sound” comming from Volendam, but also the picking of a banjo. “European country” is what AlascA calles it. Already three years ago, the debut album of the band was released titled: ‘Actors & Liars’, melting together the 60’s and 70’s with the indiescene of today to an icesolid album. This year, AlascA is kicking in the saloon doors with their second album, named ‘Prospero’. The mariachi trumpets and slide guitars are removed from their dust and together with the saloon piano give a rich and raw pallet. You will almost forget you are not in an old basement in New Orleans.
