TEUS NOBEL 4 | CHILD’S PLAY

PROJAZZ@GR8

Wednesday 7 October 2026

With Child’s Play, trumpeter and Edison Award winner Teus Nobel presents his eleventh and most personal album to date. The music was created during a period in which his family faced major challenges. Nobel found inspiration in the play of his children: free, unpredictable, and full of imagination. That energy resonates throughout the compositions, where spontaneity and controlled chaos go hand in hand. Structure and freedom remain in balance, just as they do in children’s play.

For this new chapter, Nobel founded Teus Nobel 4, the successor to his successful Liberty Group, with which he released three albums and performed twice at the North Sea Jazz Festival. With this new formation, he explores a rawer and more direct musical approach, partly thanks to the addition of guitarist Teis Semey. Together with double bassist Jasper Høiby and drummer Niek de Bruijn, he forms a close-knit, energetic all-star line-up.

Prior to the concert, the documentary Human First (approximately 50 minutes) will be screened. British filmmakers Simon Sixsmith and Steve Denniss followed Teus and his wife during an intense period in which they made space for creativity once again. This personal and compelling portrait, centered on the making of Child’s Play, serves as a special introduction to the live concert.
