Saturday 11 oktober
Get ready for SUPAFLY Festival, the festival where neo-soul, R&B, hip-hop and (UK) jazz merge! On 11 October, PAARD will be the place to discover new music and enjoy fantastic live performances. Be surprised by a diverse line-up with artists from all over the world and from your own backyard. The line-up for 2025 is (almost) complete: expect performances from Butcher Brown, Oscar Jerome, Brintex Collective, Olive Jones, Tia Gordon, Illnoledge & jev. !
Butcher Brown is a genre-defying jazz quintet from Richmond, Virginia, known for their dynamic fusion of jazz, funk, hip-hop, soul and rock. Formed in 2009, the band released their most recent work, Letters From The Atlantic, a few months ago. Armed with a catalogue of original songs and covers of popular songs, they are ready to put on an impressive performance!
jev. is a Congolese-Canadian rapper and producer known for his genre-bending sound and profound lyrics. After fleeing the Democratic Republic of Congo and settling in Canada in 2019, he attracted attention when his single where’s the confetti went viral on TikTok in 2022. This success led to his debut album the colour grey, which established him as an emerging voice in alternative hip-hop. Now a full-time artist, jev. is praised for his raw emotion and sharp wordplay.
Songwriter, guitarist, and producer Oscar Jerome is set to release his third solo album, The Fork—an introspective and richly layered record that blends his lyrical guitar style with sophisticated, nuanced storytelling.
A former member of the acclaimed collective Kokoroko, Jerome has continued to refine a sound that is both sensitive and articulate. His music draws as much from the introspective folk of John Martyn and Joni Mitchell as it does from the soulful grooves of Prince and early Carlos Santana, bridging genres with effortless fluidity.
Meet Olive Jones. This London-based singer, songwriter and guitarist weaves soul, blues and alt-folk into her rich, melodic sound. She has already made an impression with her hit Tell Me Why, a collaboration with Gotts Street Park, and her live performances are not to be missed.
(UK) jazz is alive! And Rotterdam-based band Brintex Collective is living proof of it! Led by Brenn Luiten on keys, he plays together with his longtime friends, and the band brings Brenn’s compositions to life with a full, immersive sound. Their upcoming album explores themes of grief, heartbreak, getting back on your feet, and ultimately, making sense of it all. Inspired by artists like Robert Glasper, Alfa Mist, and Joe Armon Jones, Brintex Collective has truly found their own unique sound on this album. This is definitely an act to watch out for at this edition of SUPAFLY!
Tia Gordon is a singer-songwriter from Kent who’s been singing since the age of 4. Given a guitar by her best friend in her teenage years, Tia started writing and producing her own songs and secretly putting them on soundcloud to positive reactions, giving her the confidence to continue making original content. She finally decided to put her face out there with her music and created an Instagram, where she uploaded snippets, resulting in a strong organic following. We can’t wait to hear her combination of neo-soul and R&B this year at SUPAFLY!
Illnoledge is a duo of brothers Steve Hartley and Mill Voyance, producers and composers. Rooted in a rich musical upbringing and inspired by their Caribbean heritage, they have developed a unique sound they call “Akan Fu” — an acronym for A Kulture Attuning to Nature for Unification. This style blends afrobeat, soul, Latin, jazz, and reggae, creating hypnotic heartbeat rhythms, mystical melodies, and cryptic lyrics that convey a deep spiritual and cultural philosophy.
Cymande is the most important British R&B/soul group of their generation, a band heard by many, but whose name few know. Endlessly sampled, the band was one of the first to mix African rhythms with rock, funk, reggae and soul.
Cymande’s performance will take place on Friday 10 October, the night before the SUPAFLY Festival on Saturday 11 October. Want to experience both nights? Then you need a combo ticket!
Before the show of Cymande, Filmhuis Den Haag shows the movie Getting It Back: The Story of Cymande (2022).

MULATU is a listening bar concept that originated from the PAARD concepts competition. It’s an event that offers space on the same evening for both deep focus and liberating dancing — wherever the music takes you! Inspired by authentic Japanese listening bars and modern European venues such as Brilliant Corners.
During Supafly Festival, they will perform a special lounge set.
Howard Komproe is the host during Supafly Festival.
When Howard Komproe — comedian, presenter, and actor — ended up in ballet school at the age of twelve, he thought he had found his life’s calling. Unfortunately, due to a lack of dance background, he had to switch to drama school instead. That went well, until he was increasingly asked to perform as a stand-up comedian at parties and in clubs. Before long, Howard found his way to Comedytrain.
In 2016, Howard played the role of Pontius Pilate in the television spectacle The Passion. He also gives workshops, hosts events, works for radio and television, and wrote the book The Edge of the Joke.
In addition, Howard is the creator of the one-liner show Padoem Patsss, with which he toured the country. The show also successfully led to a TV pilot for 3Lab on NPO 3, followed by four episodes for BNN.
Currently, Howard is mainly busy with his online series Komproeven, in which he compares traditional dishes with their “ready-made” supermarket versions.
