ED VERHOEFF ‘Dear fathers

PROJAZZ@GR8

Thursday 23 April 2026

Versatile guitarist explores father–child relationships with a new quartet of leading Dutch musicians.

Guitarist Ed Verhoeff has performed in many different formations, including a trio with Izaline Calister and Angelo Verploegen, as well as with the Latin band Sweet Toko. Now he returns as bandleader of a new quartet with brand-new music: Dear Fathers, an album about the father–child relationship and its impact on personal well-being. A deeply personal story about responsibility, unconditional love, hope, and loss.

Musically, this translates into lyrical melodies, carried by a solid, grooving foundation. Four adventurous top players from the Dutch jazz scene bring it to life in their own distinctive way: Verhoeff on guitar, Marcus Olgers on piano and keyboards, Mark Haanstra on bass, and Yoràn Vroom on drums.

“The album shines through its coherent interplay… You could call it a musical Gesamtkunstwerk by four inspired instrumentalists.”
