“A party where everyone is welcome, but October 10th will above all be an environment where everyone can be themselves,” says organizer Luuk Wessels. “At midnight, we want a festive countdown to celebrate that you can be who you are and love who you want. And this applies to everyone, of course.”
“Coming Out Day” revolves around the moment someone openly admits their sexual orientation. “And that moment is often not easy, and there’s a lot that precedes it for the person themselves. Something that many people still can’t understand today. I also hope that this will create more understanding, so that the barrier to coming out will be lower.”
POPCAKE is pleased with the support of the Municipality of The Hague. During Coming Out Week, they are collaborating with queer organizations in The Hague that are committed to connection and celebrating who someone is.
