The British musician Patrick Wolf loves big gestures. Theatrical and with a maximum effect, this cameleon has brought his pop music to audiences all around the globein the past decade. Wolf uses all the means he can possibly use to empower his show and his music. To be able to succeed in this, he is continually experimenting with new styles, and is always playing around with his image as pop-icon.
Next to his solo achievements, the striking collaborations with Patti Smith, Marianne Faithfull and Coco Rosie are polishing and perfecting his growing reputation even further.
In the current autumn, Patrick Wolf has returned from his mammoth-sized worldtour, which started in 2012. During this tour, he has played in almost every big theathre there is, and has even sold out the Sydney Operahouse multiple times. The concerning tour has also brought him to the Scandinavian and Baltic states, in which he endured the almost unbearably cold winter months by writing highly enthralling new material. These new songs will be presented to the audience during the concertseries ‘An afternoon of winter with Patrick Wolf’.
The artist himself has picked a handful of shows during the upcoming autumn- and wintertimes in which he will play his new songs for a select audience. The State-X New Forms festival has convinced Patrick Wolf that one of these very special concerts should be held at the ‘Haagse Nieuwe Kerk’.
Next to playing these new songs, he will also be playing his already existing songs, provided with new arrangements. Patrick Wolf will also be playing some songs of a selection of his own favorite artists. During these concertseries, the multi-talented musician can be seen and heard playing tenor guitar, harp viola, kantele, and theremin.
The semi-acoustic setting of this concert combined with the eminent surroundings of the ‘Haagse Nieuwe Kerk’ will undoubtedly make this concert a once in a lifetime-experience.
