Paardcafé: Weird Youth & Melle Leyten

Dutch singer-songwriter Melle Leyten drew inspiration from folk music for his latest solo album, but has since developed his own unique style of blues. With his lifelong friends on bass and drums (and Melle Leyten himself on electric guitar), you can expect unpolished, rootsy tunes with a message.

Weird Youth is the new solo project of musician and songwriter Harmen Ridderbos. After years of wandering with Town of Saints, Electropoëzie, and more recently CAW CAW and Melle Leyten, it was time for his own, more personal project. The music of Weird Youth draws on the music of 1970s artists such as Neil Young and The Band, occasionally adding touches of 90s indie rock. This mix forms the backdrop for his personal stories.
